If you're looking for Stability Stirrup Leathers refined to functional and aesthetic perfection, the Stability+ Stirrup Leathers might be your solution.  They represent 3 years of development and many key improvements over the original Stability Stirrup Leathers, such as:

1. Minimized stretch by using Italian calfskin wrapped around resilient webbing for years of reliable use.

2. Reduced bulk under the saddle skirt by developing a custom buckle that pairs elegantly with the Stability+ Stirrup Leathers.

3. Improved leg security by using a supple calfskin leather that creates a strong base of support against the flap.

A Smarter Buckle

Stirrup leather buckles haven't evolved in a long time (maybe forever). A typical buckle creates a large bulge under the saddle skirt. This bulge presses into the rider's inner thigh, potentially causing discomfort and a wider feeling in the seat and twist.

We custom designed a buckle with a contour that minimizes this problem by allowing the leather to settle into the buckle, instead of bulging out.  Additionally we upgraded to a pure 304 stainless steel material, which is a major strength and aesthetic improvement over regular stirrup leather buckles.

Below you can see the difference in bulge between a regular buckle and the new buckle on the Stability+ Stirrup Leathers:

No More Stretch

In addition to the top Italian calfskin and stainless steel logo accent, the entire stirrup leather is webbing lined to minimize stretch.

Size Chart

Will "jump" leathers fit on a dressage saddle, and vice versa?

In short, yes. Both jump and dressage styles can be used on any English saddle.

The reason they are labeled as jump and dressage is for the length of the wide portion. Dressage sizes have 2" more length of the wide portion to accommodate longer dressage flaps.

For best results, you want the entire flap covered by the wide portion of the leathers. This means black dressage sizes work perfectly on jump saddles. But brown jump sizes may not be as ideal on brown dressage saddles.

How are the Stability+ Stirrup Leathers different than the original Stability Stirrup Leathers?

While both models provide a quiet and secure leg, the Stability+ Stirrup Leathers are made of higher quality materials, minimize stretching, provide a more stable base of support and have a slimmer buckle design.

What is the benefit of wide stirrup leathers?

Traditional 1 inch wide stirrup leathers have an inherent instability against the flap due to their height to width ratio. This either causes the two layers to shift independently of one another, or the entire leather to rotate.

Wide leathers solve this problem by broadening the top layer of the leathers. This allows for the top layer to have left and right contact points on the flap (traditional leathers do not), which in turn provides an unparalleled level of stability not possible in traditional stirrup leathers.

Why are the actual measurements 3" longer than the marked size?

We've found that by adding 3 inches to each size, the leathers fit (and look) better on the saddle flap by leaving enough tail to neatly tuck into the keeper on the flap.
